Power Line Communication (PLC) carries DLMS/COSEM data directly over low-voltage electrical distribution cables. High-frequency noise from inverter air conditioners and solar PV inverters frequently degrades SNR.

Key Diagnosed Issues

  1. High Packet Fragmentation: G3-PLC 6LoWPAN adaptation layer fragments 1024-byte DLMS PDUs into multiple 128-byte MAC frames. If 1 fragment is lost due to noise, the entire DLMS APDU is dropped.
  2. Mitigation: Reduce max_pdu_size to 256 or 384 bytes in AARQ. Smaller PDUs fit within 2-3 PLC hops with significantly higher completion probability.
  3. Timeout Tuning: Increase gateway application response timeout (t_response) from 3.0s to 12.0s when routing through multi-hop mesh repeaters.
